Today was the technology day!! SciGirls started off at the Florida Center for Interactive Media where we learned all about game programming. The girls were able to take pictures of themselves in front of a green screen to manipulate in Photoshop.  They used these images and sounds they recorded to create a game called "We Got Ya" that can be downloaded via Android devices. They learned a little bit about how coding changes the variables of a game and then got time to play their game. The girls had a blast trying to beat each other's high scores!
The afternoon was spent at WFSU where the girls participated in the behind-the-scenes production of a news cast and a radio broadcast. One group interviewed a local scientist from FSU College of Medicine over the radio. They developed their own questions and edited their own airtime. The other group either focused on behind-the-scenes (directing, audio, or camera work) or in front of the camera (interviewing, newscaster, or special reporter) for a news broadcast. Lots of rehearsing and several takes were needed for both radio and television, and both broadcasts will be presented at the reception Friday evening at WFSU.
The girls had an absolute blast and learned a lot about multimedia production (and so did the teachers!)

Special thanks to Kim Kelling-Engstrom, Mike Dunn, and Andrew Dennard and their crews for an amazing day!
